About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the logistics function. This includes developing and implementing logistics strategies, policies, and procedures, as well as monitoring and reporting on the performance of the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations in the logistics department.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders.
- Coordinate with other functions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team.
- Manage operational budgets and monitor expenses.
- Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance performance and productivity.
- Coordinate the programme's logistics scope.
- Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements.
- Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget, and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters.
- Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within the contract or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop, and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues.
- Manage staff responsible for the day-to-day operation of logistics.
- Monitor appropriate sections of the budget(s). Review Budget vs. Actual expenditure reports.
- Report on performance metrics.
Requirements
- Demonstrate success in managing / developing:
- Engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery
- Multi-discipline projects
- Procurement and management of complex contracts
- Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools.
- Closure of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
- Creation and implementation of a logistics strategy.
- Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders up to board level.
- Able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills including project management, financial management, change management, and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling, programming, and risk tools.
- Experience of managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment.
- Good presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.

What We Offer
- Experience working on a large Construction programme is essential.
- Knowledge and/or practitioner of Project Management with experience of applying either; APM body of knowledge and OGC's Prince 2.
- Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- Can demonstrate experience of project managing logistics through the project lifecycle from concept to handover.
- Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled.
- Client-facing, stakeholder management, and problem-solving experience.
