Operations Director Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional Operations Director to join our team at Leading Operations Limited. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the day-to-day operations of our organisation and ensuring the seamless delivery of our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering Exceptional Member Experience: Oversee subscription services and actively support members in maximising their membership benefits, addressing all membership-related queries with efficiency and professionalism.
  • Comprehensive Events and Exhibitions Planning and Execution: Develop and oversee a detailed events and exhibitions plan which drives exceptional member experience. This includes managing all aspects of operational delivery and logistics e.g. sourcing and securing venues, engaging speakers, coordinating trade attendees, managing public relations efforts, budget planning and oversight, and conducting thorough post-event follow-up activities.
  • Sub-Communities Support and Engagement: In support of their respective Chairs, provide strategic oversight and support for events and other activities tailored to specific sub-communities of members, including the Teachers Group and Early Career Groups, ensuring these events meet the unique needs and interests of these member segments.
  • Prizes and Grants Management: Oversee the administration and coordination of prizes and grant awards in conjunction with their respective Review Panels and BES Council. This includes managing the submission process, liaising with the BES Review panel for judging, and ensuring fair and transparent awarding of prizes.
  • Growing and Promoting Our Organisation: Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive commercial strategy aimed at driving growth and visibility in conjunction with the Society's Public Relations Agency and Honorary Communications Officer. This includes creating and overseeing advertising campaigns, content creation, and dissemination across various channels, including social media and the BES website.
  • External Partnerships and Relationship Management: Manage and nurture collaborations with key external partners. Build and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders such as the International Endodontic Journal, its Editor and publisher and the European Society of Endodontology to enhance BES's influence and reach.
  • Governance & Financial Management: Ensure the smooth organisation and execution of all Council and committee meetings. This includes preparing agendas in collaboration with the President, taking accurate minutes, and ensuring adherence to BES governance standards and compliance with regulatory requirements from the Charity Commission and Companies House.
  • Financial Oversight and Resource Management: Collaborate closely with the Treasurer and external auditors to manage the society's financial resources effectively. This involves budget planning, financial reporting, and ensuring the accurate and timely submission of financial returns.
Requirements:
  • Senior Leadership and Operational Expertise: Demonstrated experience in senior leadership roles with a strong operational background. Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Motivated Self-Starter: A proactive, driven individual with a demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects independently.
  • Excellence in Customer Service: A proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service and continually improving the member experience.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with strong abilities in presentation and facilitation.
  • Expertise in Event Planning: Extensive experience in planning and executing large-scale events, with attention to detail and logistical coordination.
  • Commercial and Marketing Acumen: Strong commercial sense with experience in digital marketing, content creation, and website management aimed at driving organisational growth.
  • Effective Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to influence and manage diverse stakeholders in a matrix organisation, including members, professional partner organisations, and Council/Trustee Board members.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the healthcare or dental industry is advantageous.
  • Third Sector Experience: Experience working in the third sector and an understanding of governance requirements is desirable but not essential.
  • Website knowledge: A basic knowledge of WordPress is desirable but not essential.
What We Offer:
  • Salary and Hours: The full-time equivalent (FTE) salary for this role is between £50,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience. As this position is 0.8 FTE (28 hours per week), the actual salary will be pro-rated to £40,000 - £48,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Additional Benefits Package: Company pension, 25 days holidays p.a. pro-rata, flexible working.
