Job Summary

The Efficiency and Productivity Insights Team in NHS England's Finance and Planning Directorate is seeking a Manager of Efficiency and Productivity Insights to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of work to support the NHS, working closely with government to agree NHS funding, ensuring the NHS lives within its annual budget, and deciding how to distribute funding to different NHS services and parts of England.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the monthly reporting of productivity and efficiency savings across different sectors, working on high-profile, fast-paced projects that require adaptability, rigor, and innovation. The team offers exciting development opportunities for those developing their careers in the NHS, health, or the public sector.

Key Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have good analytical skills and experience within the NHS sector, including experience of using finance, activity, and operational data. An accountancy qualification is desirable but not essential. Advanced Excel skills are essential, with experience of Alteryx, SQL, and PowerBI desirable. The candidate will also have good stakeholder management skills and experience, working with different teams across NHS England, including regional colleagues and the wider NHS ICBs and Providers.

Person Specification
  • Knowledge of the NHS Financial regime gained ideally across both commissioning and provider sectors
  • Knowledge and experience of different NHS data (financial data, operational data, activity) / data collection / data quality improvement / data operational development principles
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritise appropriately and deliver in a timely manner
  • Strong Analytical skills (essential) with ability to produce high quality analytical reports and insights which can be used for policy development or decision making
  • Advanced excel skills (essential). Skills in using Alteryx, Power Bi, SQL, R
