About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at BAM Construct & Ventures UK. As a key member of our Central region, you will be responsible for the operational implementation of our purchasing policy within the region.

As a Procurement Specialist, you will work collaboratively with our procurement and commercial teams to support the business in both tender and contract stage procurement activities. Your mission will be to develop and implement effective procurement strategies that drive value and efficiency across our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with Tender/Project Teams to develop Material Procurement Plans.
  • Manage the implementation of Material Procurement Plans in collaboration with project teams from tender to close-out of the project.
  • Generate requests for quotations for materials, negotiate rates/terms and conditions, and use Value Engineering alternatives to produce better outcomes for BAM.
  • Use Manufacturer, distributor, and specification framework agreements for both direct and indirect procurement.
  • Report buying gains against budget allowances.
  • Ensure effective Purchase Order creation on SAP MM.
  • Support the 3-way matching process and assist the project/accounts payable team with invoice queries.
  • Closely collaborate with BAM UK & Ireland category managers to set priorities and follow category plans.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships, and engage with operations, commercial, and estimating teams.
  • Support the business with performance and supply issues, including monitoring the financial health of material suppliers.
  • Engage with Health, Safety, Sustainability, and Social Value teams.
  • Support Prompt Payment Group.
  • Support project mobilizations.
  • Liaise and promote the services of new departments, including Supply Chain Shared Services, Category Management, and Supply Chain Management Systems.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a construction buying role.
  • Ability to balance divisional and regional procurement needs.
  • Collaborative mindset and a desire to develop synergies across the Construction segment and the wider Royal BAM Group.
  • Expert awareness of construction materials and vendors.
  • Analytical strength, articulation, and ability to express vision clearly.
  • Demonstrable expertise in procurement of Groundworks, Masonry, Carpentry, and FF&E materials.
  • Competence with IT and openness to supporting new systems, including SAP MM experience.
  • CIPS qualified or studying towards it (beneficial but not mandatory).
  • Driving license essential.
