About the Role

UCL Eastman Dental Institute is seeking an accomplished Data Scientist to join our team of experts in epidemiology and health data science.

This position presents a unique opportunity to work on statistical analysis and present results from large-scale national primary care data sources, including CPRD GOLD or Aurum, UK Biobank, THIN, or OpenSafely. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to defining diseases in primary care using phenotyping approaches, leveraging their expertise in data wrangling and analysis.

The post is full-time (37 hours per week) and is initially funded until 31 December, with potential for further funding. The salary is £43,489 - £51,683 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience. If you are not yet in possession of a PhD, initial appointment may be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (£38,467 - £41,494 per annum), with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of your PhD thesis.

Your Qualifications and Skills

We seek a highly skilled Data Scientist with a PhD or equivalent experience in epidemiology, data science, biostatistics, or a related quantitative discipline. Excellent programming skills in R and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. You should have experience in managing and analysing large datasets (>1 million rows), particularly linked data using different terminologies such as SNOMED-CT, Read 2, CTV3, and ICD-10.
