About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team in Surgery and Intensive Care at North Devon District Hospital. As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will provide specialist assessment, treatment, and advice to patients, carers, on the General Surgery wards and Intensive Care.
The post is to support the existing Advanced Occupational Therapy role, and there will be opportunities to develop the service with Senior staff including widening the role within the Intensive care unit.
You will be part of a well-established Surgical/Intensive Care Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team (Trauma, Emergency and Elective). The team has a forward-thinking approach to Healthcare and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment, treatment, and advice to patients, carers, on the General Surgery wards and Intensive Care.
- Support the existing Advanced Occupational Therapy role and develop the service with Senior staff.
- Work with the patient, family, carers, and MDT to increase patient's independence.
- Supervise junior staff with their development and progression within their roles.
- Service development and teaching opportunities.
Requirements
- Relevant experience working at a junior level, or equivalent level with comprehensive experience of assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of complex conditions.
- Ability to assess and treat patients who have complex needs.
- Strong team player who wants to further develop their specialist skills.
- Excellent communicator who can problem solve quickly and effectively while demonstrating sound clinical knowledge in all core areas.
