Job Title: Deputy Childcare Manager

Larne Community Care Centre is a multifaceted facility that offers various projects for the community, including a daycare, pre-school, after-school club, breakfast club, and youth club.

Job Summary

The Deputy Childcare Manager will support and oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring a safe, caring, and welcoming environment for children and their families. This role requires a strong understanding of quality standards and the ability to plan, organize, and implement resources to promote efficient and effective services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Childcare Manager and be familiar with all aspects of the role.
  • Support and oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery.
  • Provide direction for the team to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for children and their families.
  • Maintain all quality standards as regulated by relevant statutory agencies.
  • Plan, organize, and implement resources to promote efficient and effective services.
  • Provide activities for young children that encourage them to reach their full potential.
  • Ensure the development and safety of children in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular staff supervisions and support staff development and training.
  • Act as the fit person in charge of the building in the absence of the Childcare Manager.
  • Act as the designated child protection officer in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
  • RQF Level 5 Diploma in Childcare Learning and Development or Playwork, or a relevant occupational qualification in Early Years Education, Social Work, Nursing, Teaching, or Health Visiting.
  • Two years' experience working with children 0-5 in a group-based setting gained within the last 5 years.
  • A knowledge and understanding of children's development stages.
  • Familiarity with all relevant policies, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Fire Safety, GDPR, and Equal Opportunities.
  • Awareness of key operational procedures within a childcare setting.
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and an understanding of equality and diversity issues.
  • Awareness of the importance of continual professional development.
  • Ability to understand issues that impact on quality of service and income.
  • Suitable to work with young children - Satisfactory Access NI check required.
  • An understanding of the play needs of young children.
  • Commitment to flexible working, including occasional evenings.
  • Commitment to and understanding of diversity and equality.
  • Valid Driving License.
  • Evidence of professional development.
  • Experience in use of Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, OneDrive, and Teams.
