About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Ormston School in Leeds. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and emotional needs of our pupils, particularly those with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for mentoring and supporting individual pupils or small groups, working closely with the classroom teacher to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. Your role will involve reporting on pupil progress, liaising with other staff members, and supervising pupils during non-classroom time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and support individual pupils or small groups
  • Support the classroom teacher during lessons
  • Report on pupil progress and concerns
  • Liaise with other staff members to ensure pupil needs are met
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time
  • Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
Requirements
  • Strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEMH needs in an educational setting
  • Ability to take additional responsibility in areas such as food hygiene, forest school, or lunchtime supervision
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to learn
