Director of Workforce Development

Appalachian Sustainable Development is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Workforce Development to lead our Groundwork Workforce Development Program. This is a full-time position based in Bristol, VA, with a hybrid remote work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise a team of six permanent staff members, providing direct supervision, weekly meetings, and support to ensure the success of the program.
  • Develop and implement long-term and strategic plans for workforce development initiatives, including the Groundwork strategic plan and policy documents.
  • Participate in the Central Appalachian Network (CAN) Workforce Development Working Group and identify opportunities for policy change and cost reduction.
  • Implement and manage DEI principles in policy, programming, and development of the program.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations to determine program funding, development, and maintenance needs.
  • Attend bi-weekly ASD Team Meetings, One on One Meetings with the Chief Program Officer, and participate in major event planning committees.
  • Facilitate financial grant closeout meetings and communicate time out of office via Google Calendar.
  • Participate on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
Requirements:
  • Driver's License (Preferred)
  • Ability to relocate to Bristol, VA
