Advanced Surgical Oncology Ward Lead

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Surgical Oncology Ward Lead to join our team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated professional with surgical experience to develop their clinical knowledge and management skills.
About the Role:
This is a full-time permanent position available on our busy and dynamic Surgical Oncology Unit. As an Advanced Surgical Oncology Ward Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe staffing of the unit, developing the team, contributing to practice development, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in surgical oncology nursing, strong leadership skills, and a positive role model within the team. You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be a visible leader supporting the management of the ward, and commit to ongoing development of the ward and multidisciplinary team working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the unit is safely staffed and that all team members adhere to the uniform policy and maintain a professional image
- Develop the team and contribute to practice development
- Maintain high standards of patient care and ensure all trust policies and procedures are adhered to
- Assist/lead in the recruitment process for the unit
- Act up as required
- Liaise closely with the surgical team and other members of the MDT in respect of patient care
- Participate in the on-call rota for hospital cover out of hours
- Represent the unit at the Band 7 forum
- Participate in policy writing for the unit and Trust
- Demonstrate a pleasant and approachable manner and help create and promote a good working relationship
