We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Care Specialist to join our team at NISI. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our school premises.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar caretaker or handyman role, with a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and practical skills in building maintenance.

This is a temporary ongoing contract, working Monday to Friday 8am-4pm, with a salary of £11.44 per hour plus weekly holiday pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to school facilities and equipment, monitor the building for any issues or damage and arrange for repairs when necessary.
  2. Health and Safety: Maintain a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors by following health and safety guidelines, regularly check fire alarms, emergency lighting and security systems to ensure they are in working order.
  3. Cleaning and Waste Management: Support cleaning staff to ensure that all areas of the school are kept clean, hygienic and presentable, empty bins and manage recycling and waste disposal.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar caretaker or handyman role.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Practical skills in building maintenance (e.g. basic plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry).
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
