Company Overview: At Construction Resources Limited, our Energy Division is dedicated to the design, construction, and maintenance of a diverse range of projects across both public and private sectors. Our areas of focus include healthcare, education, commercial mechanical and electrical systems, decarbonisation initiatives, and photovoltaic works. We engage in project execution as well as planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance.

Primary Objective: The Technical Design Manager will oversee a team of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) designers and Sector Material Experts, offering both pre-contract and post-contract support to the division and its clients, including design and expert consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

- The essential duties of this position encompass, but are not limited to:

- Strategically plan and deliver comprehensive design and advisory services to both internal and external stakeholders.

- Manage technical resources within the Energy Division effectively.

- Oversee appointed technical resources both within and outside the organization.

- Foster and maintain competence and credibility within the team.

- Establish and drive departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while promoting continuous improvement.

- Provide leadership, governance, and direction to ensure staff remain safe, engaged, focused, developed, and performing to their potential.

- Contribute to the growth and development of the Energy Division.

Relationship Management: Successful candidates will need to:

- Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, clients, suppliers, and senior management.

- Work efficiently and effectively as part of a collaborative team.

- Communicate clearly and effectively with all departments.

Candidate Profile: To excel in this role, the Technical Design Manager will:

- Demonstrate technical competence, delivering relevant, compliant, and commercially viable technical solutions.

- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the entire project lifecycle, with strong planning, organizational, and monitoring skills.

- Exhibit excellent interpersonal abilities and the capacity to communicate at all levels.

- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Approach client and customer interactions with confidence and patience.

- Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

- Effectively prioritize tasks, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage business expectations.

- Show adaptability and flexibility in work approaches.

- Be capable of passing an Enhanced DBS accreditation prior to employment.

- Hold a legal right to work in the UK.

Qualifications:

- Possess a robust knowledge of the Building Services industry, including alternative energy solutions.

- Hold a recognized degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, ideally with membership in CIBSE.

- Be proficient with MS programs, CAD, BIM, and other relevant design software.

- Have a minimum of 15 years of experience in delivering design and construction in a similar capacity within the industry.
