Advanced Healthcare Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Healthcare Practitioner to join our team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading by example, and empowering nurses and healthcare professionals to improve care and participate in strategic planning.
The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. They will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients, providing clinical expertise, and contributing to the development of professional practice through the promotion of evidence-based practice and audit of standards of care.
The Advanced Healthcare Practitioner will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide improved outcomes for patients, improve timeliness and consistency of care, and drive innovation through new models of care. They will also participate in research and development, contributing to the development of professional practice and promoting evidence-based practice.
Main Responsibilities:- Provide high-quality patient care, leading by example and empowering nurses and healthcare professionals to improve care and participate in strategic planning.
- Manage a caseload of patients, providing clinical expertise and contributing to the development of professional practice.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide improved outcomes for patients, improve timeliness and consistency of care, and drive innovation through new models of care.
- Participate in research and development, contributing to the development of professional practice and promoting evidence-based practice.
- First-level Registered Nurse qualification.
- Degree in Nursing.
- Education at Masters Level (Advanced Practice or equivalent).
- Teaching qualification.
- Non-medical independent prescriber qualification.
- PACR (Patient Assessment and Clinical Reasoning) course qualification.
- Leadership course/qualification.
- JAG accredited and Independent Nurse Endoscopist in Upper or Lower GI procedures.
- Ward Manager/Team leader experience.
- Evidence of service development/improvement.
- Ability to facilitate group supervision.
- Proven skills in leadership and motivating others.
- Advanced assessment skills.
- Creative thinking.
- Proven experience in risk management.
- Evidence of participating in research and development.
The Advanced Healthcare Practitioner will work at an advanced level within their level of competence and will work flexibly across all areas of the team. They will be expected to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and make critical judgements to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role, within a defined framework.
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
