Job Description

We are seeking a skilled individual with a relevant degree for the role of Drug Research and Prevention Specialist. Building on the work of the existing longstanding programme of drug and alcohol related death (DARD) monitoring delivered by our Public Health Institute, you will develop a specialised system of monitoring DARD across Knowsley, Sefton, and St Helens alongside the monitoring of non-fatal overdose.

You will drive actions which arise from the data and review sessions in order to evidence their impact. Your duties will include:

  • Coordinating and chairing regular NFO and DARD review sessions
  • Liaising with relevant organisations and personnel to ensure sessions have appropriate participation
  • Developing systems for monitoring non-fatal overdoses/near misses and producing regular reports highlighting the number and characteristics of cases
  • Investigating potential additional data sources to enrich understanding of DARD and enhance the system's learning
  • Analysing the learning within the context of the wider Public Health/Health Inequalities/Health Improvement framework and promoting actions within local strategies to reduce health inequalities and improve public health
  • Taking a leading role in feeding local experience, learning service improvements to national networks and monitoring processes, and bringing together local and national learning
  • Supporting the DARD review process to explore and identify factors contributing to people leaving drug and alcohol treatment alongside implementing remedial action to address these factors

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
