Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Textron Specialized Vehicles. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new hybrid and electric-powered turf care equipment, validating design changes to new and existing equipment, and resolving warranty problems associated with new and existing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of hybrid and electric-powered turf care equipment and integrate associated systems and components;
  • Support the design, development, and integration of systems/components into hybrid and electric-powered turf care equipment;
  • Participate in activities associated with the development and utilisation of new energy sources (i.e. Lithium battery, Zinc-air, etc);
  • Develop and utilise project timelines for engineering tasks;
  • Develop and utilise functional specifications;
  • Participate in the creation and use of DFMEA's for components and assemblies;
  • Participate in the development of design validation plans (DVP&R's);
  • Investigate and review design patent opportunities and infringements;
  • Support the development of design packaging layouts;
  • Develop and release engineering component and assembly drawings;
  • Resolve and document test issues/failures using the 8D process;
  • Perform design for assembly and manufacturing assessments;
  • Ensure products are certified to all applicable government standards;
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical and managerial problems;
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of electrical engineering principles;
  • Work under supervision and follow established procedures, while showing independent thinking;
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering;
  • Experience in electrical systems design and experience with hybrid or electrically powered vehicles or equipment is desirable;
  • Ability to programme in C/C++ for embedded powertrain controllers desirable;
  • Self-motivating with the ability to work independently;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Team player;
  • Innovative mindset with a drive to make transformational changes;
  • Creative approach to solving engineering problems with good attention to detail.
