UK Contractor/Tradesman Development Underwriter

Our esteemed client, an award-winning MGA, is seeking a skilled Contractor/Tradesman Underwriter to join their team. This home-based role offers flexibility and the opportunity to be part of a company experiencing rapid growth.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience in Contractor/Tradesman underwriting and be based in the South up to the Midlands. They will be responsible for:
- Trading, negotiating, and underwriting new business and/or renewal of existing business in accordance with the company's strategy.
- Achieving budget income, Loss Ratio, Rate & Retention Targets while delivering excellent Customer Service and Underwriting standards via open market trading and the online trading platform.
- Assisting with the prioritization and allocation of new business quotations, midterm adjustments, renewals claims experience, pre-quote work, and declinature of business falling outside the companies underwriting strategy.
- Striving for maximum efficiency, development & profitability and contributing to creating a culture of excellence.
- Identifying and seeking out additional key risk information required to adequately underwrite and price risks.
- Working with Broker Development Managers on distribution strategy.
- Regularly planning, discussing, and agreeing pipeline activity with the broker to ensure targets are reached.
- Accountability and Ownership for large case reviews including both New and Existing Business.
- Processing Policy Amendments.
- Resolution of accounts and claims queries.
- Carrying out peer reviews in line with company audit procedures.
- Collaboration with the technical team where required for existing product improvements and new product development to improve loss ratio results.
- Supporting the cascade and delivery of strategy changes and working in conjunction with the Operation and Technical teams to ensure these are being met.
- To assist underwriting in managing performance of schemes generated.
Requirements for the role include:
- Minimum 2-3 years+ previous UK Contractor/Tradesman underwriting experience.
- Strong relationship/negotiation & numerical skills with good attention to detail and effective written and spoken communication skills.
- Ideally CII qualified. A working knowledge of market wordings and products.
