About the Role

The BBC is seeking an experienced Archive Researcher to join our team. As an Archive Researcher, you will play a crucial role in uncovering and preserving the BBC's rich archive of content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify and assess the suitability of archive content for publication on various digital platforms.
  • Work closely with the Archive Producer and Archive Assistant Producers to develop and implement archive projects.
  • Collaborate with the Editorial team to ensure that all content meets the BBC's high standards of accuracy and impartiality.
  • Utilize internal systems to review rights positions and assess editorial suitability.
  • Record all work completed using internal database systems to build a comprehensive record of content assessed.
  • Develop and present creative ideas for content and programming output.
  • Sourcing archive material for publishing.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and compliance policies.
  • Passion for archive and the media industry.
  • Experience in footage research or a related field.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data and condense into actionable next steps.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable time management and organisational skills.
