Overview:


First Military Recruitment is collaborating with a prominent International Defence organization seeking to appoint a HGV Vehicle Technician with supervisory capabilities on a permanent basis due to expansion at their Preston facility.

This role of HGV Vehicle Technician Supervisor transcends a conventional mechanic position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing the employee lifecycle from recruitment to exit processes.
  • Managing employee relations including disciplinary actions, grievances, and welfare matters.
  • Conducting performance management, including setting objectives, appraisals, and addressing underperformance.
  • Administering resource levels, including absence management and annual leave.
  • Maintaining system administration across ERP, safety near misses, asset management, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).

You will also ensure that stores and equipment allocated to tasks are utilized appropriately.

Diagnosing, inspecting, and evaluating vehicles and associated mechanical/electrical equipment in accordance with skills and competencies.

Ensuring that stores and equipment issued for tasks are used correctly and that any unused or faulty materials are returned promptly to the relevant section or department Team Leader.

Creation of job cards and requisitioning materials where the necessary ERP (SAP) training has been completed.

Completing vehicle and equipment documentation along with test certificates/reports to current standards.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with heavy vehicles, specifically HGVs.
  • Military vehicle experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proven ability to manage individuals and teams effectively.
  • Proficient PC user (MS Office, MS Outlook, SharePoint, ERP systems).
  • Capability to engage in challenging conversations and make informed decisions based on available information.
