We are a thriving co-educational academy based in North London, committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for our students. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of English Pedagogy.

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the English department and contribute to the school's vision of inspiring young people to excel academically and socially. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for managing the English curriculum, teaching staff, and resources to ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategically plan and implement the English curriculum to meet the needs of all learners
  • Lead and manage the English teaching team, promoting collaborative practice and continuous professional development
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including SLT, HODs, HOYs, SENDCO, subject staff, and support staff
  • Ensure responsive interventions across the English department to address the needs of disadvantaged groups and close achievement gaps
  • Prioritize, plan, and organize to maximize student progress and attainment

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Relevant Degree in English or a related subject
  • Experience of teaching in the 11-16 sector, with a proven track record of improving student outcomes
  • A passion for English, demonstrated through your teaching practice and commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues and students alike
