", "As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work with students who may display challenging behaviours or need additional support to engage positively in school life. Drawing on your previous experience, particularly in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and maintaining authority, you will be well-placed to mentor students, promoting positive behaviour and supporting them in reaching their potential.

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with behavioural challenges, promoting a safe and supportive school environment.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and support plans tailored to individual students’ needs.
  • Help to manage and de-escalate situations where students display challenging behaviour, applying techniques learned from previous law enforcement roles.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and senior leaders to ensure students receive appropriate interventions and support.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to relevant staff and supporting ongoing improvements.
  • Assist in the supervision of students in the inclusion room or during breaks, ensuring a calm and structured environment.

  • Previous experience in law enforcement, such as working as a police officer or community support officer, is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with young people.
  • Experience in de-escalating conflict and maintaining authority in challenging situations.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to working with students who display challenging behaviour.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection, with a commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of all students.
  • A team player with a proactive approach, able to work effectively with colleagues to implement behaviour support strategies.
  • While experience working in education is desirable, those looking to transition from law enforcement to a school environment are encouraged to apply.
