About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team at Hastings Direct. As a key member of our data platform team, you'll play a critical role in supporting the architecture, design, and implementation of Snowflake in our fast-paced development environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Snowflake ecosystems to support streaming and batch workflows, enabling end-user teams to access data, build reports, and leverage automation tooling.
  • Ensure steps in these processes are automated and observable, adhering to platform standards.
  • Engage with users on SQL best practices for Snowflake, recommending new data structures and physical data layouts to improve throughput and performance.
  • Support database user and permissions management (IAM, AD).

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Snowflake engineering (SQL scripting, DDL, and DML, task orchestration, integration management).
  • Strong experience with Snowflake administration (RBAC, warehouse provision, cost management, time-travel, disaster recovery).
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, utilizing methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban/BDD/TDD.
  • Enthusiasm for maintaining and providing a best-in-class data platform to the business.
  • Snowflake certifications.
  • Azure data certifications.
