About the Role
We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team at Hastings Direct. As a key member of our data platform team, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Snowflake ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the architecture, design, and implementation of Snowflake in a fast-paced development environment.
- Build and manage a Snowflake ecosystem to support streaming and batch workflows, enabling end-user teams to access data, build reports, and leverage automation tooling.
- Ensure steps in these processes are automated and observable, adhering to platform standards.
- Engage with users about SQL best practices for Snowflake, recommending new data structures and physical data layouts to improve throughput and performance.
- Support database user and permissions management (IAM, AD).
Requirements
- Strong experience with Snowflake engineering (SQL scripting, DDL, and DML, task orchestration, integration management).
- Strong experience with Snowflake administration (RBAC, warehouse provision, cost management, time-travel, disaster recovery).
- Experience working in an Agile environment, utilizing methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban/BDD/TDD.
- Enthusiasm for maintaining and providing a best-in-class data platform to the business.
- Snowflake certifications.
- Azure data certifications.
