Job Title: Machinery Documentation Expert

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Machinery Documentation Expert to join our team. As a Machinery Documentation Expert, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation related to machine manuals, ensuring that they are accurate, complete and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review and amend existing risk assessments to final completion and compliance.
  2. Translate risk assessment actions into working instructions within the manual.
  3. Plan and manage the authoring project.
  4. Understand business systems and applications for which documentation is to be prepared.
  5. Gather and analyse information needs of the user.
  6. Liaise with in-house specialists to understand the technology described.
  7. Question relevant personnel to clarify technical issues.
  8. Plan the order of information, organise and present it effectively.
  9. Set up document standards, styles and formats, which reflect the image of the employing and/or user organisation.
  10. Manage CE UKCA documentation published in the manual.
  11. Ensure compliance with latest standards.
  12. Complete internal EHSR check lists.
  13. Verify final project compliance with internal safety documentation.
  14. Compile machinery transportation and installation instructions.
  15. Publish internal quality documentation and build check lists for machinery.
  16. Prepare size change and other machine documentation including safe operation.
  17. Manage and distribute associated publications.
  18. Prepare training documentation.
  19. Take visual images of machinery for possible presentation.
  20. Write and present information in clear and simple language.
  21. Edit text to fit the standards, style and format agreed.
  22. Liaise with translators, printers and service providers.
  23. Test documentation to ensure that it matches the finished product.
  24. Copy-edit work or other colleagues within the organisation.

Competencies/Skills:

  • Proven technical ability to understand complex machinery.
  • Good oral and written communication at all levels.
  • Organised.
  • Customer focused (including displaying a positive and helpful attitude).
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Computer literate Microsoft package.
  • CAD experience preferable AutoCAD/Solidworks.
About You

We are looking for an experienced Machinery Documentation Expert who has a proven track record of working in a capital goods/complex machinery environment or transferable skills/experience/qualifications. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing skills and be able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.

We offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
