Technical Documentation Specialist

Technique Recruitment Solutions are working on behalf of an engineering manufacturer based in Lowestoft who have a permanent vacancy for a Technical Documentation Specialist to compile and present technical information and documentation related to machine manuals in a format that is presentable to customers. This involves using CAD, Excel, PC skills to pull files together, add words and construct a technical machine manual.
The role also includes supporting safety documentation within the product life cycle of our equipment and communicating technical information to users at different levels. This involves understanding technology and writing documentation for presentation. Other media such as video, PowerPoint or presentations may be used.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and amend existing and create new risk assessments to ensure compliance.
- Translate risk assessment actions into working instructions.
- Plan and manage authoring projects.
- Understand business systems and applications for which documentation is prepared.
- Gather and analyse user information needs.
- Liaise with specialists to understand technology described.
- Question relevant personnel to clarify technical issues.
- Plan information order, organise and present effectively.
- Set up document standards, styles and formats.
- Manage CE UKCA documentation published in manuals.
- Ensure compliance with latest standards.
- Complete internal EHSR check lists.
- Verify final project compliance with safety documentation.
- Compile machinery transportation and installation instructions.
- Publish quality documentation and build check lists for machinery.
- Prepare size change and other machine documentation.
- Manage and distribute publications.
- Prepare training documentation.
- Take visual images of machinery for presentation.
- Write and present information in clear language.
- Edit text to fit agreed standards, style and format.
- Liaise with translators, printers and service providers.
- Test documentation to ensure it matches the finished product.
Requirements:
A proven ability to understand complex machinery. Good oral and written communication skills. Organised and customer-focused with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. Computer literate with experience of Microsoft packages and CAD software preferred. An estimated salary range for this position is £45,000 - £55,000 per annum.
