Job Title: QA Technologist

FreshDirect is seeking a skilled QA Technologist to support the Technical Manager and Operations Manager in ensuring the company complies with all current legislation and customer requirements. The successful candidate will oversee site quality checks, maintain product specifications, and ensure all products meet these specifications.

The ideal candidate will have previous technical experience in a chilled food manufacturing environment, preferably in meat processing. They will have knowledge of relevant food safety legislation, HACCP, and the current BRC standard. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and excellent organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site technical and quality cover
  • Prepare and participate in third-party audits, customer audits, and visitor site attendance
  • Complete daily checks, including start-ups, calibrations, environmental temperature, titration, scales, temperature probes, GMP, fabrication, hygiene, and internal audits
  • Coordinate cleaning schedules with the operations hygiene team
  • Assist in the investigation of consumer complaints and determine corrective action
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly ATP and/or swabbing, water sampling, environmental, and product laboratory sampling
  • Investigate microbial out-of-specification results and determine corrective action
  • Assist with operations on booking in goods, stock control, and SAP system maintenance
  • Participate in site quality improvement projects and provide support to train operation teams
  • Ensure raw material specifications are available and supplier files are up-to-date
  • Support Technical Manager with specification and artwork progression
  • Build production team capability to improve communication and understanding of technical standards
