The National Rifle Association of the UK is a registered charity with a Royal Charter. Our current patron is His Majesty the King, who continues a long history of Royal patronage.

We value our military heritage and close links with the UK Armed Forces, aligning to our charitable objectives to promote marksmanship throughout the Kingdom in defence and volunteer forces interests.

With over 90 staff members and numerous volunteers, we represent 53,000 marksmen and markswomen across membership and affiliated organisations. The NRA owns a 4,000-acre Bisley Estate, home to the charity; consolidated income exceeded £10 million in 2023.

Andrew Mercer, the current Secretary General, will retire in 2025 after 12 successful years with the charity.

This position involves leading management and operations of the NRA and its commercial enterprise subsidiary, developing an overall vision for the charity in collaboration with Trustees.

You will oversee financial management, programme development, stakeholder engagement, and drive organisational growth, working closely with the Board of Trustees and NSC Board of Directors.

In this role, you will be expected to develop strategies for the charity, communicate them to internal and external audiences, and act as ambassador for the NRA and NSC.

You will play a key role in motivating and engaging staff, membership, volunteers, and affiliated organisations.

A competitive package including salary £110,000 - £125,000 per year dependent on experience is offered.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans, aligning objectives with annual budgets.
  • Build and manage relationships with political, military, and governmental stakeholders.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to assess financial health and organisational impact.
  • Oversee all operations, including financial management and HR policy adherence.
  • Represent the NRA and NSC as a national governing body and voice for the shooting community.
  • Ensure staff and volunteers are focused on the charity's mission and objectives.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, business)
  • Proven track record of managing medium to large organisations
  • Experience developing organisational strategy, driving growth, and managing change
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and delegate to staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and public representation
  • Strong leadership and advocacy abilities
