About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Prop Store Assistant to join our team at BBC Studios Drama Productions. As a key member of our prop department, you will be responsible for assisting the Prop Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the prop store, including the management of props, sets, and locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of props, sets, and locations, ensuring that all items are properly stored, maintained, and transported.
  • Coordinate with production designers and art directors to source and supply props and furniture from the store.
  • Oversee the loading, transport, and storage of all production props, and arrange temporary storage between shoots or rehearsals.
  • Coordinate the return of all hired props and organize the sale or safe disposal of any other properties during post-production.
  • Manage the asset management of all prop IT equipment, including organizing, installing, and maintaining equipment, and setting up IT accounts for cast members.
  • Drive and maintain production vehicles, including forklifts, teddies, and trailers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience of working in television with evidence of set dressing, prop making, and design skills.
  • A full and clean manual driving license.
  • Experience of driving vans up to and including a 3-ton Luton Tail lift.
  • Computer literacy, with a knowledge of and ability to use and compile spreadsheets, use computerized systems, and packages including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation as it relates to TV production and experience of implementing H&S systems appropriate for a working prop store.
