Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to lead our clinical pharmacy service in Acute and Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical pharmacy services in Acute and Emergency Medicine, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and information to healthcare professionals on the care and treatment of patients, using evidence-based knowledge and experience.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the pharmacy service to patients, in line with national and international consensus guidelines.
  • Manage specific service initiatives and changes affecting the clinical pharmacy service, working closely with senior staff and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a specialist practitioner within the field, providing highly specialized and complex evidence-based clinical advice and information to pharmacy, nursing, medical, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in and contribute to the clinical/ward pharmacy service, including attending multidisciplinary ward rounds, antibiotic ward rounds, and other multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Practice as an independent prescriber, providing direct high-quality care to inpatients and outpatients within the scope of practice.
  • Support the Principal Pharmacist in monitoring drug expenditure within the Care Group and provide accurate expenditure information to the Clinical Director and General Manager.
  • Identify areas of potential cost-savings within the General Medicine Care Group and implement systems to realize savings and contain prescribing costs.
Person Specification
  • Registered Pharmacist with 1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.
  • Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the area of practice.
  • Registered Independent Prescriber or willingness to complete.
  • Member of the RPS faculty.
