Advanced Social Work Practitioner

The Safeguarding Children in Need team is a multidisciplinary team that works directly with families who are identified as Children in Need under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989.
The service operates across three geographical pods: Wyre Forest and Bromsgrove.
Our team works with children who have stepped down from a child protection plan and consent to ongoing support via a child in need plan.
We also support children who are privately fostered, on a Supervision Order (excluding interim orders), or on a Special Guardianship Order with a support plan.
Additionally, we work with children whose family has no recourse to public funds or resettlement families.
Our team also supports babies who were part of the prebirth pathway and are now born and have been safely living with that assessed parent for a minimal of 3 months.
We work closely with Section 7 and 37 private law proceedings that are not managed by the Court Progression Officers.
Our team is responsible for identifying and supporting children in need in Worcestershire.
Key Responsibilities- Review transfer requests and respond within 5 working days
- Agree attendance at the next CIN meeting to resume casework responsibility
- Agree a transfer point that supports the family and avoids delay wherever possible
- Escalate to TM and/or GM where there is concern transfer is not appropriate for the family
