Job Summary

Norfolk State University's Parking Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer II to assist with campus parking enforcement. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and issue parking citations to vehicles in violation of University parking codes.
  • Install wheel-locks and provide motorist assistance as needed.
  • Assist with special events, including planning and coordinating parking arrangements.
  • Monitor parking lots daily for potholes and repair needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors, answering questions and resolving issues related to parking and permits.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, displaying a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to install parking signage and enter information into the handheld computer system.
  • Considerable experience in customer service, with a strong focus on providing excellent service to the NSU community and visitors.
  • Ability to work under all weather conditions, stand, walk, and lift 10 pounds.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including day, night, weekends, and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of training and education.
  • Considerable experience in the security field, with a strong understanding of parking enforcement procedures and regulations.
