Job Title: Senior Clinical Fellow in Stroke and Genomic Medicine

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Fellow to join our team at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Stroke Medicine and Genomic Medicine, with a passion for driving policy formation and implementation.

Job Summary:

This is a 12-month Clinical Fellowship in Stroke Medicine and Genomic Medicine at the Greater Manchester Comprehensive Stroke Centre (CSC) based at Salford Royal Hospital. The post is designed for candidates interested in gaining experience in project management, service implementation, and research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive policy formation on indications and scope of testing choice of alternate antiplatelet regimes.
  • Take lead in implementation of this pathway for Stroke patients in the Salford CSC and explore opportunities for implementation across the region and broader within the NHS.
  • Examine the 2 available pathways in the form of Laboratory based testing and Point of Care testing and scope of use of either in specific scenarios and make recommendations for future pathway design and implementation.
Requirements:
  • Full registration (or eligible for full registration) with the General Medical Council.
  • Medical Degree.
  • Evidence of experience in a range of medical roles, with experience of managing patients on unselected take during core training or equivalent.
  • Knowledge, Training & Experience:
    • Interest in Stroke Medicine.
    • Evidence that present achievement and performance is commensurate with totality of training.
    • Interest in pharmacogenetics and personalised medicine.
    • Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of clinical risk management, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
    • Communication Skills - Demonstrates clarity in written/spoken communication, and capacity to adapt language to the situation, as appropriate.
  • Distinctions or Prizes during undergraduate training.
  • Evidence of involvement in a quality improvement project, formal research project.
