About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance, part of Benefact Group, is seeking a Compliance Officer to join our Gloucester office. As a key member of our team, you will provide subject matter expertise on legal and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with UK General Insurance business unit (UKGI) obligations.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career and become an integral part of an inclusive, purpose-led organization. You will work closely with our rapidly expanding and innovative Group to drive compliance and conduct initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on legal and regulatory developments affecting UKGI, identifying potential impacts and recommending effective controls.
  • Collaborate with Line 2 colleagues to analyze actual and potential risks, ensuring efficient and proportionate approaches to UKGI management.
  • Drive implementation progress, providing assurance and clear reporting to the UKGI Leadership Team on compliance and conduct.
  • Ensure the effective operation of relevant governance and implementation groups, promoting a clear understanding of legal and regulatory duties and obligations.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis of risk incidents and indicators, coordinating with other areas to ensure a comprehensive understanding of risks.
  • Liaise closely with Group Compliance and other SBU colleagues to ensure mutual effectiveness.
  • Assist UKGI teams and senior management in responding to assurance and monitoring reviews.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a legal and regulatory environment, translating rules and principles into practical outcomes for a business.
  • Proven competence in general insurance in the UK.
  • Business writing and preparing regulatory reports summarizing information from various sources.
  • Legal, compliance, or risk professional qualification advantageous.
