Chief Dentist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Dentist to lead our dental strategy and commissioning efforts in NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board (ICB). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to improve the quality and effectiveness of dental services in our region.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership of Dental Strategy: Provide dental expertise and oversight to the ICB in developing and implementing strategic plans, including leading and supporting access improvement plans.
- Engaging Dental Clinical Teams: Work closely with dental clinical teams and expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services.
- Improving Quality and Outcomes: Hold staff to the highest integrity by adhering to all government regulations and obligations under the General Dental Council.
- Enabling Patient and Public Involvement: Support the promotion of an open and transparent policy of public engagement.
- Promoting Equality: Ensure that the ICB considers improvement of care that specifically addresses health inequalities.
- Information Governance: Ensure compliance with confidentiality and governance, and influence the BSW Research and Innovation Strategy to ensure research and innovation relating to dental services are appropriately represented.
- Registered dental practitioner with current GDC registration.
- Highest level of specialist training, equivalent to a doctorate plus further specialist training, research, or study.
- Experienced clinician with credibility and the ability to command the respect of clinical dental teams and non-clinical professionals.
- Experience of active involvement in local, regional, or national strategy groups.
- Understanding of the implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Local knowledge of the pathways of care.
