Research Scientist

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is seeking a highly skilled Instrument Scientist to join their team at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Harwell, Oxfordshire. As an Instrument Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and operating cutting-edge scientific instruments.
This is a fixed-term contract for 48 months, working full-time hours. The salary range is £41,344 - £45,479 per annum (Band D), depending on skills and experience, or £51,242 - £56,366 per annum (Band E) if you have more senior qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in science and technology, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You will be required to work collaboratively with other scientists and engineers to design, develop, and operate complex scientific instruments.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing new scientific instruments
- Operating and maintaining existing instruments
- Collaborating with colleagues to achieve project goals
- Providing technical support and guidance to junior staff members
