Job Title: Operational Technical Specialist

The Operational Technical Specialist plays a crucial role in the operational guidance of workflows in our broadcast software environment, both on cloud and on-premises computing. This position requires a strong understanding of software-defined broadcast production platforms and media processing technologies, as well as experience in incident management and troubleshooting within a broadcast production environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate on live productions to stay aligned with evolving production needs.
  • Validate upgrades, patches, and configurations in collaboration with Production Engineering and the Site Reliability Engineer.
  • Conduct platform health checks and report issues.
  • Identify areas for improvement in workflows, and coordinate necessary actions.
  • Work with counterparts in Production Engineering to manage an incident management process and prompt follow-up of incidents.
  • Assist in the training of the operational and support teams, with a focus on the operations and first line.
  • Foster a collaborative approach of working with Clients, Support, and Development teams.
  • Work closely with the Software Operations Manager to build strong relationships with vendors and the wider broadcast community.
Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of broadcast production workflows, technologies, and industry standards.
  • Strong understanding of software-defined broadcast production platforms and media processing technologies like AWS, GV AMPP, and Simply Live.
  • Experience in incident management and troubleshooting within a broadcast production environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships.
  • The ability to work independently utilizing agile ways of working to manage tasks and meet targets.
  • Understanding of video over IP both compressed and uncompressed.
