We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neonatal Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and innovative Occupational Therapist to make a significant impact in the field of paediatrics.

About the Role

This full-time position will support the inpatient neonates and be instrumental in embedding Neonatal Occupational Therapy services within our level 2 unit. The successful candidate will use their highly specialist skills to manage a complex caseload, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a specialist standard of Occupational Therapy service to neonatal patients and carers, facilitating and maximising patient and carer safety and potential within the service boundaries.
  • Serving as an integral member of the inter-disciplinary team (IDT) setting patient-centred aims, goals, and targets within comprehensive care packages.
  • Taking a lead role as a highly specialised clinician acting as an autonomous practitioner in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of a diverse caseload.

The ideal candidate will have advanced clinical knowledge and skills in paediatric and neonatal fields, with evidence of skills in both acute and community settings. They will also possess the ability to take an overview of the service and initiate its development.

About Us

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is a leading healthcare provider in the UK. We offer a competitive salary of approximately £48,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including pension scheme, life assurance, and annual leave.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Experience working in a level 2 Neonatal Unit with premature babies and a wide range of neonatal conditions.
  • Leadership and first-line management experience, or the potential to develop these skills.

You will also need to demonstrate sound knowledge and skills in the management of a diverse range of neonatal conditions. Additionally, you should be able to assist the Band 8a Clinical Lead Therapist in the planning, development, and delivery of the Children's Occupational Therapy Service at BHRUT.
