This is an exciting opportunity to join Apex Hotels in Dundee on our Hospitality Apprentice Programme, a unique and award-winning initiative that nurtures and develops the next generation of leaders in the industry.

As a Hospitality Apprentice, you will embark on a two-year journey that combines full-time work with the completion of the Hospitality Services apprenticeship, gaining the SCQF Level 5 qualification. You will rotate through key operational departments, including housekeeping, kitchen, front office, and restaurant & bar, spending six months in each department. This will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the hospitality industry and equip you with the skills and knowledge to excel in your chosen career path.

Throughout the programme, you will participate in ongoing training and development, masterclasses, and learning journey experiences that showcase the opportunities available in the industry. You will also have the chance to develop your skills in customer service, communication, and teamwork, while working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

As a member of the Apex Hotels team, you will be part of a warm and welcoming family that values passion, trust, friendliness, and teamwork. You will have the opportunity to meet new people, make friends, and enjoy your work while developing a fulfilling career in hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in ongoing training and development in each department to support personal and professional skills progression.
  • Develop customer service skills, including serving guests, taking food and drinks orders, and managing guest queries.
  • Assist the Chef de Partie in the kitchen, ensuring health and hygiene regulations are followed.
  • Greet guests, learn the guest check-in/out procedure, and offer local advice and information.
  • Ensure guest rooms are well-presented, performing cleaning duties and engaging with guests.
  • Anticipate guests' needs and demonstrate behaviours reflective of Apex Family Values.

Reporting Structure:

  • Report to the relevant Head of Department during each rotation.
  • Receive support from a Workplace Mentor.

Personal Characteristics and Competencies:

  • Passion for the hospitality industry with a desire to progress your career.
  • Good communication and IT skills relevant to the role.
  • Ability to bring personality to work and ensure exceptional guest service.
  • Excellent customer care skills to deal with guest concerns.
