Job Title: Senior Safeguarding Officer

About Colchester United:
Colchester United is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Safeguarding Officer to join our team. As the club's Designated Safeguarding Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures in line with EFL, FA, and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Safeguarding Strategy Development: Develop and implement a club-wide safeguarding strategy that promotes best practices, continuous improvement, and a culture of safety.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure the club meets all legal, regulatory, and EFL safeguarding standards, including regular audits and assessments.
  • Education and Training: Develop and deliver regular safeguarding training and awareness programs for all staff, volunteers, players, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Case Management and Support: Manage and investigate safeguarding incidents in line with club policy and statutory guidance.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Essential:
    1. Experience in a senior safeguarding role, ideally within a sports organization or similar setting.
    2. Strong knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, regulations, and best practices, including the FA's Safeguarding Children Policy.
    3. Proven experience in managing and investigating safeguarding incidents and concerns.
    4. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Desirable:
    1. Professional qualification in safeguarding, social work, education, or a related field.
    2. Experience working within football or another professional sports environment.

Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • High level of organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Salary:£45,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
