Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at our thriving secondary school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to the pupil, ensuring their emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and engaging with classroom activities, adapting resources and teaching methods to suit their individual needs.
  • Promote independence, communication, and social skills through structured activities and support in both classroom and unstructured settings.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement and review the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Ensure a positive, inclusive learning environment that fosters the pupil's confidence, progress, and well-being.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Has experience working with children or young people with Autism or other Special Educational Needs (SEN), preferably in a school setting.
  • Has strong communication skills and the ability to build a trusting, supportive relationship with the pupil.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and has a calm approach to managing challenging behaviours.
  • Has a flexible and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Is committed to promoting inclusivity and helping the pupil achieve their full potential.
