Job Title: EMEA Economist and Portfolio Strategist

At Portfolio Verlag, we are seeking a highly skilled EMEA Economist and Portfolio Strategist to join our team. As a key member of our portfolio committee, you will be responsible for conducting research and formulating macro strategy to drive investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth research on regional economics, focusing on high-frequency macro variables, inflation, growth, and balance of payments information.
  • Develop and maintain detailed balance sheet analysis, particularly for distressed sovereigns, to inform investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with the portfolio management team to develop and implement investment strategies, including stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Contribute to research through on-the-ground country trips and frequent market updates, providing actionable insights and investment recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of five years' experience in regional economics.
  • Masters or PhD in Economics or Finance, with a strong background in quantitative analysis.
  • Proven track record of success in sovereign balance sheet analysis, with a focus on EM economies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both internal and external stakeholders.
