Gastroenterology Specialist Nurse

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking highly motivated and qualified staff nurses to join our Gastroenterology ward (17) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
The ward provides care for patients with Gastroenterology and General Medical conditions in a 24-bedded unit.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills and knowledge while working as part of a dedicated nursing team.
About the RoleThis role involves providing high-quality patient care, assessing care needs, and developing individualized care plans.
You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
A key aspect of this role is teaching and mentoring qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and post-basic students.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out comprehensive assessments of patient care needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Provide high-quality patient care, adhering to Trust policies and guidelines.
- Supervise qualified and unqualified staff, ensuring they receive necessary training and support.
- Teach and mentor staff on various aspects of patient care, including extended roles.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues.
- Strong leadership and management skills, particularly in supervising and mentoring staff.
- Able to work effectively under pressure, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
- Knowledge of up-to-date nursing practices, research-based evidence, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others, promoting a positive work environment.
- Previous experience in medical or gastroenterology settings.
- Knowledge of extended roles, such as IV drug administration and infusion pump skills.
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in completing assessments and discharge letters.
Candidates must hold a good general education and be registered nurses (General).
Prior completion of relevant courses, such as mentorship and preceptorship, would be advantageous.
