About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Site Engineer to join our team at BAM Construct & Ventures UK. As a Senior Site Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects, from planning to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the construction of all structural elements, including structural steelwork, drainage works, underpinning, earthworks, and excavations.
  • Ensure that all instruments and equipment are kept in good condition and calibrated at the specified frequencies.
  • Maintain survey instruments and keep records of all engineering activities.
  • Check setting out information and establish primary and secondary dimensional control.
  • Coordinate temporary works and falseworks, including checking installation and dismantling.
  • Complete permit to load/strike and requisition materials for in-situ concrete works.
  • Supervise concrete deliveries, including pre- and post-pour inspections.
  • Sample and cube tests, and maintain site diaries.
  • Manage and coordinate the construction of all structural elements, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Implement the project management plan, engineering procedures, and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, statutory provisions, and company procedures.
  • Set an example through high personal standards in the application of health and safety.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure that all accidents and dangerous occurrences are reported in accordance with company procedures.
  • Understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Compile as-built drawings and create construction drawings for information.
  • Experience with AutoCad and Total Station.
  • Compile QA sheets for sub- and super-structural elements.
  • Advise on buildability issues and assist in preparing scope of works and reports.
  • Carry out site surveys, levelling, and setting out.
  • Manage subcontractors, including cut and fill, groundworkers, RC, and steel, checking setting out of subcontractor work.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or HNC/HND in a construction-related or engineering discipline.
  • A CSCS card.
  • A H&S qualification is desirable (ideally SMSTS).
  • CITB (or equivalent) temporary works training.
  • At least 2+ years' post-graduate experience in site engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals.
  • A broad construction-based technical knowledge.
  • Organisation skills and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Confident in the use of IT packages and systems, AutoCad, and setting out/cut and fill software.
  • A positive, proactive individual that works collaboratively with colleagues and the client team.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Experience of working with or an understanding of BIM and computer-aided measurement tools.
  • A valid driving license.
