As a vital member of the site management team, you will collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, planners, and subcontractors.

We are looking for a Site Engineer with a solid history of managing and coordinating the construction of all structural components on projects valued between £10-100m, across various sectors such as commercial, educational, and mixed-use developments.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary controls and documentation are maintained concerning the engineering activities outlined.

The following responsibilities will be undertaken by a site-based professional under the guidance of the Construction Team Leader:

  • Conduct quality assessments for structural steelwork, drainage systems, underpinning, earthworks, and excavations.
  • Maintain and document survey instruments.
  • Order materials for in situ concrete works and secure necessary approvals.
  • Oversee concrete deliveries, including pre and post-pour inspections.
  • Keep a detailed site diary while ensuring proper site management.
  • Coordinate and manage the construction of all structural elements.
  • Implement the Project Management Plan along with engineering protocols and practices.
  • Ensure the production of appropriate quality records.
  • Organize work to minimize risks to personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Alert relevant personnel to any foreseeable risks.
  • Conduct safety inspections on-site.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Compile as-built drawings and create construction drawings for reference.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Total Station effectively.
  • Perform site surveys, leveling, and setting out.
  • Manage subcontractors, including Cut and Fill/Groundworker/RC/Steel, and verify the setting out of subcontractor work.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or HNC/HND in a construction-related or engineering discipline.
  • CSCS Card.
  • A Health & Safety Qualification is preferred (ideally SMSTS).
  • Completion of CITB (or equivalent) temporary works training.
  • Minimum of 2+ years' post-graduate experience in site engineering.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the project team.
  • Proficient in using the latest total stations and digital information.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in all site engineering activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with various professionals, including construction managers, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, architects, designers, and other engineers.
  • Broad technical knowledge in construction.
  • Comfortable using IT packages and systems, including AutoCAD and setting out/cut and fill software.
  • Willingness to contribute to all project success factors as a team member.
  • Adaptable and flexible in approach.
  • Experience with or understanding of BIM and computer-aided measurement tools.
  • Possession of a valid driving license.
