Database Engineer at Barclays

As a Database Engineer at Barclays, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital landscape. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality infrastructure solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable and secure database architectures using PostgreSQL and other technologies.
  • Develop and maintain automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems and applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations, and contribute to the organization's technology communities.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers and Kubernetes (OpenShift), database CI/CD tools and their implementation.
  • PostgreSQL expertise, with the ability to serve as the highest level of technical escalation for complex database issues.
  • Experience in Data migrations across different database technologies.

Desirable Skills:

  • Cloud experience, AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Experience in a financial environment.
  • Experience in system configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible for database server configurations.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation/migration tasks.

This role will be based in our Knutsford and Glasgow office.
