Wokingham, Wokingham, United Kingdom Wokingham Borough Council Full time

Wokingham Borough Council is committed to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF).

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic playworker to join our team in delivering the programme, which provides free fun activities and healthy lunches to children and young people eligible for free school meals during the Christmas, Easter, and Summer school holidays.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing 1:1 support and assisting with the organisation of leisure activities for children aged 5-13 with SEND.

We are looking for someone with experience working with SEND children and young people, who can work flexible hours during holiday weeks. Full training will be provided, and support will be offered by the HAF Programme Manager, SEND Project Co-ordinator, and site lead.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have essential qualities such as nurturing, enthusiasm, reliability, and motivation to support children and young people to thrive.

The role also requires ability to engage and encourage children and young people to access activities, willingness to participate in all aspects of providing person-centred care, and ability to work effectively under pressure. Desirable qualities include knowledge of working with children and young people with learning difficulties or disabilities, awareness of non-speaking communication techniques, and experience of facilitating provisions to support SEND children and young people.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people. If you are passionate about working with SEND children and have the necessary skills and qualifications, we encourage you to apply.
