Senior Clinical Psychologist Position

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Clinical Psychologist to join the Deaf Mental Health Service at the National Centre for Mental Health (Birmingham). The post involves providing specialist psychological assessment and evidence-based psychological interventions to Deaf Mental Health Service users across in-patient and out-patient settings. The successful candidate will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, attending meetings and offering supervision, advice, and consultation on clients' psychological care to team colleagues. The role also requires providing clinical leadership within the Deaf Service alongside other senior managers or clinicians.

The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive Psychology Services team that offers excellent opportunities for research, personal development, and special interests. The team is committed to providing training and supervision opportunities for its staff and supports networking, exchange of good practice, and peer support amongst Psychologists and members of other disciplines across the Trust.

  • Provide specialist psychological assessment and evidence-based psychological interventions to Deaf Mental Health Service users.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
  • Ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of all other psychologists within the service.
  • Act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professional community and carry out audit, policy, and service development activities and/or programmes.

Key Requirements:

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology.
  • Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
  • Substantial assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, including post qualification experience within Deaf Mental Health Services.
  • Knowledge of legislation and national developments and their implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group and deaf mental health in general.
