Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Hearing Impaired Support

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide support to students with hearing impairments in a good-rated school in Hemel Hempstead.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers to create and deliver activities tailored to students' needs
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans, risk assessments, and therapy care programs
  • Work with teachers, support staff, families, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Wear a radio aid to connect with students
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with hearing impairments or a willingness to work with them
  • Good knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and a passion to develop
  • Able to commit to working fixed days, full or part-time
  • Makaton training
  • NVQ in Childcare and Education or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • British Sign Language Level 1-3
  • Phonics experience (if pupils fitted with cochlear implants)
  • Experience of developing independence in young people
  • Experience of supporting social and emotional development
  • Clear and valid DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
