About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Hays PLC. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the classroom environment to ensure a safe and clean space for students
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEN, including those with physical or mental impairments, learning difficulties, ADHD, or ASD
  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and equipment
  • Record and report student progress to teachers
  • Help students stay focused during class hours and manage behavior
  • Support teachers in improving core skills, such as reading and writing
  • Provide care and support to students who are unwell or upset
  • Maintain a healthy, engaging, and safe learning environment
Requirements
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs and ability to provide individualized support
  • Ability to communicate clearly and articulately
  • Inquisitive and able to build strong relationships with students
  • Ability to create an encouraging and supportive learning environment
  • Empathetic and understanding of students' needs
  • Ability to respond calmly and constructively under stress
  • Adaptable and flexible work attitude
  • Ability to learn and use various strategies to manage classroom behavior
Essential Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or equivalent (at least 40 days in the last 5 years)
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar
  • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or similar
  • T Level in Education and Early Years or similar
