Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Advanced Nurse or Paramedic to join our CQC-rated 'Outstanding' Trust, within our Urgent Care Service. The post is for 27 hours per week.
Our Primary Care Centre is open 7 days a week from 8am until midnight, and our Minor Injuries Unit is open 7 days a week from 8am until 10pm. We are seeking a Practitioner who is dual-trained in Minor Injuries and Minor Illness and is a non-medical prescriber who can cover all shift patterns, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
Based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, you will be part of a forward-thinking team of GPs, Practitioners, Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants, providing high-quality out-of-hours care to the local population.
In addition to reviewing patients face-to-face, there will be telephone triage from the base.
Main Duties of the Job:- Practice at an advanced level, working as an autonomous practitioner within the MDT to deliver high-quality urgent care to patients.
- Take responsibility and be accountable in assessing, diagnosing, treating, or referring patients.
- Review patients face-to-face within our unit.
- Undertake telephone triage work and telephone advice calls.
- As an independent prescriber, prescribe medicines in accordance with NMC/HCPC guidance and national policy.
- Request and interpret tests appropriate to patients' needs.

Education/Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse/Paramedic.
- Post-registration Advanced Clinical Study.
- Non-medical Prescriber.
- Current NMC/HCPC Registration.
- Minor illness qualification.
- Minor injuries qualification.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- To have undertaken accredited courses which enable Advanced Practitioner registration.
Desirable Criteria:
- To have undertaken study at master's level.
- Experience of teaching, delivering seminars.
- Qualification in teaching and assessing.
- Leadership/Management Qualification or willing to undertake.
Previous Experience:
- Substantial post-registration experience and two years' experience working at band 7 or equivalent.
- Experience of working in primary or community health setting.
- Experience of complex case management.
- Demonstrate a high level of clinical skills.
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and experience of clinical examination, history taking, pharmacology, pathophysiology, etc.
- Experience of instigating and interpreting investigations and initiating appropriate plans of care for patients.
- Experience of promoting self-care.
- Cultural awareness.
- Experience of multi-agency working across service interfaces.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to communicate highly complex information situations including where there are barriers to understanding.
- Able to analyse and use information to inform practice and service needs.
- Computer literate.
- Demonstrates motivation, reliability, and commitment to team working.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrates an enthusiastic and flexible approach.
- Ability to travel between Trust sites.
- Ability to be flexible with working days/hours.
