Clinical Nurse Specialist for Infection Prevention and Control

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Infection Prevention and Control team. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with staff across our sites to improve IPC practice and reduce hospital-acquired infections.
This post requires collaborative working with the IPC team and with all healthcare personnel across the Trust. Working alongside the IPC Consultant Nurses, Senior Nurses, IPC CNSs, Director of Infection Prevention & Control (DIPC) and the IPC Team, the post holder will shape IPC policy and guidance ensuring implementation into practice.
The IPC service includes the Trust-wide management of isolation prioritisation to aid patient flow ensuring patient safety is maintained. Working alongside the coordination and operational services to review and advise on decontamination, building regulation compliance and the development of Trust-wide education and audit programmes amongst others.
Main Duties of the Job
The responsibilities of the post holder are:
- To promote, facilitate and help implement evidence-based practice.
- Audit and report on infection control related interventions.
- Respond to the changing needs of recruitment and retention.
- Work on Trust-wide infection control practice development projects.
- To work with the infection team, and senior nursing staff across the Trust in developing and implementing improved infection control practice.
- Contribute to, and work with, the infection control team on implementing the annual infection control plan and annual infection control report.
- To take personal responsibility for promoting a safe environment and safe patient care by identifying areas of risk and following the Incident, Serious Incidents and Near Misses reporting policy and procedure.
- Contribute to Care Quality Commission and clinical governance monitoring of infection control educational activities as required.
- To develop personal infection control knowledge to aspire to become an Infection Control Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 7) in the future.
